Teenager killed as car involved in horror crash on rural road in Kilkenny as Gardai launch probe

A teenager has been killed after he was a passenger in a car which crashed in Kilkenny on Wednesday evening.

The car was the only vehicle involved in the collision at Dowling, shortly after 8pm.

The male youth was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was later taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem will take place in due course.

Two other men in the car at the time were also taken to University Hospital Waterford.

Gardai say that both are currently receiving treatment.

A spokesperson said: “The road will remain closed overnight with local diversions in place. A technical examination of the scene by Forensic Collision Investigators is set to take place in the morning.

“Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to them.”
