Man in 40s dies following overnight assault in Limerick

A man in his 40s has died following an assault in Limerick on Friday evening. The assault took place on Parnell Street around 10.25pm.

Gardaí arrived the scene after the man had been discovered with serious injuries. He was taken to University Hospital Limerick but subsequently died. A post-mortem is to be conducted on Saturday.

The scene of the incident was preserved to allow for a technical examination to take place.

Gardaí in Roxboro Road are appealing to any person who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.

No arrests have been made and gardaí say that investigations are ongoing.They have appealed for any person who was in the Parnell Street, Lord Edward Street and Davis Street areas of Limerick last night, between 10pm and 10:40pm, and who may have camera or dash cam footage taken at that time to make it available to them.
